This CKAN Monthly Live will highlight The Urban Data Portal - a project, developed for the Master's Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The main objective of the project is to have a single instance to store the data that tend to be useful to researchers and students and the data that is generated by the research conducted within the programme. In order to meet the needs of researchers in the urban studies field, the team developed several plugins and customizations.
CKAN was self-evident given the very small storage space provided on an Ubuntu server by the University. Users were used to heavy solutions like ArcGIS Portal and Geonode, so it took a lot to make CKAN as spatially enabled as possible - but still remaining a lightweight and free solution.
💡 Join this webinar to learn about:
- The main developments needed to make CKAN spatially enabled
- Other customizations needed to meet urban research needs
- Using CKAN to support urban research
